My name is Chris Watson-Shaw. This blog is all about comment and opinion. I will write about anything of interest – culture, politics, film, theatre, books, society, and the media to name a few. You may agree or disagree with it – I’ll be glad of either. We all need compliments to develop and criticism to improve.

In the immortal words of T.S. Eliot’s The Cocktail Party:

“I knew that all you wanted was the luxury of an intimate disclosure to a stranger. But let me tell you, that to approach a stranger is to invite the unexpected, release a new force or let the genie out of the bottle. It is to start a train of events beyond your control.”

I love the idea that approaching a stranger can bring a new perspective, a sudden and intuitive look at the world around you. I hope that, whether you know me or not, you may come away from reading these articles with another vantage. Somewhere which brings your own questions and ideas. Somewhere definitively distinct.

So please, read, digest and if the moment takes you, comment!
